LMU Extension invites you to its biannual Veterans and Service Providers WorkshopWomen Veterans: Impact and Empowerment, facilitated by Instructor Mark Mitchell.

For over 200 years women have served in the U.S. Military. Yet, only recently their contribution and role importance have been acknowledged. Comprising 10% of the veteran population, these “invisible veterans” share conditions experienced by males such as hypertension, PTSD, depression and homelessness. In addition to the shared conditions, women have faced additional unique problems – such as 1 in 5 women veterans indicate a “yes” when surveyed about military sexual assault.

Now is the time for visibility! This workshop is important for both women and men. Obtain:

  • Tools, connections and opportunities to those who wish to serve the women veteran population more effectivity
  • Research based information on what is working with women veterans
  • Personal stories of triumph to inspire and strengthen resolve
  • How to work with the women veterans
  • Current research on what works regarding mental health counseling
  • Update info on women veteran’s wellness programs
  • Efforts being made regarding homelessness with women
  • Using spirituality as a tool for coping
