Celebrating Women’s Military History Month, we will have an event to honor the life and service of Bea Abrams Cohen, U.S. Army veteran, noted to be the oldest living WWII woman veteran in the State of California and possibly the nation. She spent more than 70 years of her 105 years giving back to the United States, supporting veterans and the U.S. military, and volunteering to help those in need. She donated many items to veterans, particularly socks, living out her philosophy to all she met: “Payback. It works.”
The event will also include the dedication of a veteran resource closet named in honor of Ms. Cohen’s philanthropic efforts to the veteran community. This will be the first room in Bob Hope Patriotic Hall named in honor of a women veteran. The room will be named “Bea’s Closet” and will consist of many items intended to meet the needs of the veteran community to include socks, as well as items for women.
