30 Days of Healthy Eating

Nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle has both short- and long-term health benefits. Eating a balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight can add years to your life and reduce the risk of certain diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and obesity. The effects of eating well can positively impact most bodily processes, including improved cell regeneration and digestion, reduced inflammation, and restful sleep.

For the last 30 days WVoP has been promoting healthy eating and various ways to get creative in the kitchen! From juicing to DIY fruit bowls, there are various ways to increase nutrition without stifling flavor and favorite foods! The WVoP 30-day challenge was an opportunity to reset eating patterns without focusing on “dieting” or weight loss.

People who are physically active tend to experience lower stress levels and improved quality of life both at work and at home. Nutrition is a misunderstood, often overlooked, and crucial component in increasing productivity and self-confidence. With understanding the importance of a healthy diet, we recognize that there are many challenges that keep us from clean eating. For example, we know that easily accessible and conveniently priced foods aren’t always the healthiest, however many may have limited resources to acquire nutritional foods. A healthful diet includes a variety of fruits and vegetables of many colors, whole grains, starches, good fats, and lean proteins.

For the last 30 days, WVoP has given tips to counter these challenges, such as stocking up on fresh fruits weekly, buying smoothie packs from your local market, and purchasing frozen fruits and vegetables as opposed to fattening frozen foods.  Your body needs energy to survive and function. You obtain this energy from nutrients in the food that you eat – mostly, carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is no surprise that after even as little as 30 days of eating well you can expect to not only notice positive changes in your physical body, but to feel a whole lot better, too.
